Enjoy the Four Seasons of New York's Adirondacks!

If Whiteface Mountain and The Ausable River are your destination, Brookside Cottage in New York State's beautiful Whiteface region of the Adirondacks is the vacation home for your family. Brookside Cottage features two bedrooms with queen size beds, a third bedroom with bunk beds for the kids and a comfortable futon, an eat-in kitchen with dishwasher, range and oversized fridge, and a family room with a brick fireplace, entertainment center, spacious dining area, and a piano.

Cozy up to a roaring fire, reviewing the day's adventures on the slopes. House-trained, well socialized dogs are welcome at Brookside Cottage, so bring your pooch, and carry a thermos of warm, mulled wine, while you snowshoe or cross-country ski on the network of cross-country trails accessed at the back of Brookside Cottage's 1.5 acres, or on the trail at Ausable Lodge, or up the frozen Ausable River.

Lake Placid is just ten miles away, with its unique combination of great restaurants and shopping, along with skating on the Olympic Oval, roaring down the Olympic Bobsled track, visiting the Olympic Ski Jumps or the site of the 1980 American Olympic Hockey victory over the Soviet Union. Don't feel like driving or preparing the evening meal yourself? Walk down the hill to the Wilderness Inn, a great local restaurant.

Summers find you minutes from mountain-biking and gondola rides at the Whiteface Mountain ski center, or a drive up the Veterans Memorial Highway to the top of Whiteface Mountain, where you can photograph Lake Champlain, the Green Mountains of Vermont, and all the High Peaks of the Adirondacks. In fact, you're not only on the Lake Placid Ironman biking route, but great hiking and biking is all around you, and you're only about a half mile from the sandy beach on Lake Everest, or kayaking on the Ausable River. Golfing surrounded by gorgeous views of the High Peaks is nearby, or if you need a day off, bird watch, grab lunch or compose the great American novel, while relaxing on the front porch. The kids will enjoy an evening around the campfire, while they roast marshmallows, and listen to the wildlife sounds of an Adirondack evening.

The High Peaks towns of Wilmington, Jay and Lake Placid offer nightly summer activities for young and old alike, everything from plays, concerts and art exhibits to fireworks and blue-grass/ rock and country bands under the stars.

Brookside Cottage will rent in July and August only from Saturday to Saturday, while there is a three night minimum stay the rest of the year.

Formed by the damming of the West Branch of the Ausable River, at the bridge in Wilmington, Lake Everest has a public beach in the Whiteface Region's quaint host town of Wilmington, less than a mile from Brookside Cottage. The Park at Lake Everest provides a great place for younger kids who want to play in and around the water on a sandy bottom. At Lake Everest you can launch canoes and kayaks, fish for the famous Ausable River brown and rainbow trout, play volleyball, or just picnic under the lovely cedars that cluster around the shore. Lake Everest has rest rooms, barbecue pits, and country/ rock/ folk concerts every Thursday Evening in July and August.

Brookside Cottage has a local caretaker, who provides plowing service in the winter, and can recommend hikes, biking courses, fishing locations, restaurants and other activities.
